The married couple Kristi Stassinopoulou and Stathis Kalyviotis have been re-inventing century-old Greek songs for twenty years.

On their latest album they performed ‘demotika’ songs from the Greek countryside. The combination of old (harmonium, lauto) and modern (samples, tape loops) instruments creates an innovative as well as familiar sound.

The creators of the album, Kristi Stassinopoulou and Stathis Kalyviotis are experimenting for almost twenty years in the blending of modern electronic music with traditional Greek repertoire.

Singer Stassinopoulou plays an Indian stage organ, harmonium, while Kalyviotis plays lauto (a Greek lute). You can go and see them live 20th of April, 20:30 at RASA Muziek & Dans Utrecht
