Soufli, the only town that produces silk in Europe is located in Greece

The silk that Soufli produces is top in terms of quality and even better than the Chinese. Τhe prospects for the region of Soufli are huge as it is the only region in Greece and Europe engaged in the rearing of silkworms and processing thread from their cocoon.

Greek newspaper Aggelioforos referred about the development opportunities which are going to be created with the reopening of the building where the silk was produced twelve years ago as it was equipped with all the modern tools for silk production already. “Although the fact that the crisis is causing problems and creates obstacles for the silk industry and production, we are determined to hold on”, said the silk producer Nicholaos Bouroulitis.
